A Game of Thrones Feast

Up to One day ahead:

Make the glazed pecans and store at room temperature in an airtight container. Slice the fennel bulb and refrigerate.

Make and refrigerate the vinaigrette for the salad.

Make the poudre forte mix and store in an airtight container.

Make the lemon cakes and store at room temperature in an airtight container.

Roast and slice the beets. Refrigerate.

The night before:

Make the marinade, add the beef and refrigerate.

One hour before guests arrive:

Take the beef out of the refrigerator, remove from the marinade and let sit at room temperature.  Put the marinade in a saucepan.

Take the beets out of the refrigerator.

Mince the parsley for the beets.

Allow 15 minutes for the oven to preheat.

30-45 minutes before eating:

Roast the beef.

When the beef is done and resting, make the sauce, sauté the beets, and assemble the salad.
