Ingredients:

2 cups flour
½ tsp. baking soda
½ tsp. salt
½ tsp. nutmeg
½ cup brown sugar
½ cup white sugar
12 Tbs. softened butter
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
½ cup chopped walnuts, optional
parchment paper

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350°F and line your cookie sheets with parchment paper.

In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and nutmeg.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the brown and white sugar. Press the butter into the sugar mixture with a spoon until smooth. Then, add the egg and vanilla extract. Stir, then slowly add the flour mixture from the small bowl, stirring. Finally, add chocolate chips and walnuts (optional) and stir gently into the dough.

Form small cookies out of the dough using slightly rounded tablespoons. Place twelve cookies on each cookie sheet. Flatten the dough by pressing slightly on the center of each round.

Bake cookies for about 6 minutes or until just turning golden brown. Allow cookies to cool for 2 minutes on the baking sheet before shifting them to a cooling rack.

Repeat until you have used all your dough.
