Prosciutto-Wrapped Breadsticks

Ingredients:

½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter , at room temperature
½ tsp. truffle salt
24 long grissini
24 thin slices prosciutto

Directions:

Combine the butter and truffle salt in a small bowl and mix thoroughly.

Break each breadstick in half, and butter the last 3-4 inches of the broken end.  Cut one slice of prosciutto in half cross-wise and drape it over the buttered portion of the breadstick and wrap to secure.  Repeat with the remaining breadsticks and prosciutto.  Serve. 

Notes:

Nancy Silverton suggests presenting the breadsticks on a serving platter or cutting board, crossing the unwrapped portion of 2 breadsticks in an x pattern.  Lay two more breadsticks on top of the first, and continue doing that with all the breadsticks so that you have a long line of crossed breadsticks.
